1. For moss to grow, it needs very few conditions: moisture and acidic soil. If in some place there is a high acidity, then the moss will develop very well there. Growing moss right in the same place where bonsai grows , you need to be careful not to destroy the tree itself. You can make the soil more acidic using citric acid - dilute several grains of acid taken at the very tip of the knife per liter of water for irrigation.
2. Moss has no roots, it reproduces by spores, and it is attached to the soil and other places where it grows by means of rhizoids resembling thin threads. Mosses appeared a very long time ago, but new species of plants did not originate from them; they are considered a dead end way of evolution. Moss is able to trap moisture from the air, land, and the place where it grows, just like this plant feeds on nutrients. Therefore, moist air will be a plus for growing moss.
3. To grow moss, to bring its spores to the soil, most likely, it will not be necessary, because it is difficult to find land in which there is no spore of this plant. But if you want to accelerate the result or the soil is clean, without mosses, then you need to sow it with spores. To do this, looking for good moss in natural conditions, carefully collect the ripened sporangia. A suitable moss will look bright and green, soft as velvet. Then grind the collected seeds and sprinkle them over the place where you are going to plant the moss.
4. When growing moss, the soil should be regularly watered and constantly moist. Then, after about a month, a very high-quality lawn will turn green near your bonsai tree, so you will even have to remove its excess.
